Community & Competence
for Data Centers
The Node Pole region is today the hottest investment region in Sweden, with approved investments of more than 3 billion Euro in the coming five years. Here, a mix of entrepreneurship, cutting-edge technology, and several of the world’s leading companies in a variety of fields is found. Facebook, for instance, has decided to locate its first data center outside the US, and its first in Europe, by the city of Luleå — an establishment worth several billion SEK.
The region is also known for its higher education, which is an important component for data center establishment in the area. Luleå University of Technology – Sweden’s first technology university, with 15 000 students – offers several master level programs. It also conducts research and innovation within diverse fields such as distance-spanning technology (CDT), long-term digital preservation (LDP), algorithmic engineering and lower energy consumption from web technologies.
Aurorum Science Park, the University’s next-door neighbor, is one of Sweden’s leading and fastest-growing science parks. Here you can find front edge competence within a broad base of technology-oriented companies.
